I’ve always been a fan of robotics and automation, as long as I can remember. I created this blog, in part, as a portfolio of my work, and my personality, so future employers can know who I am. That said, while blogging isn’t particularly difficult, it does take time. That time takes me away from the other things that I could be spending more time on, like learning how to be a better programmer. Because of this, I came up with an ambitious idea.
I decided to automate this blog.
Now obviously, this site would not be the very best that I could make if I left everything up to machines, but I was able to at least introduce an element of automation into it. To get things started, I am making use of a tool called IFTTT. It’s a website that allows you to automate simple tasks. For example, every time I tweet a photo, it can save it to my dropbox. So far, there are a few things that will be posted automatically on this site:
- Any new youtube videos.
- 3D Printing files on thinigiverse.
- New github repositories.
I think this is a great start, and it also means that this site will end up having more content on it, and requiring less of my attention than it otherwise would.
